Lo cierto es lo incierto, Museo Alejandro Berro, Mercedes, Uruguay
Lo Que La Tormenta Nos Dejò is a collaborative response by I FOUND U Collective to two events: the Tornado de Dolores (EF3-EF4), and the COVID-19 pandemic. In 15 minutes, on April 15, 2016, the Tornado De Dolores changed the lives of the community of Dolores forever. The global pandemic has shifted the way people around the world interact with one another.
Dolores based member Marisa Bernotti creates fluid installations of both artworks and selected other materials from I Found U Collective members and her own material structures. Moving and changing, like a gust of wind, this installation moved to its second location in Uruguay, Museo Alejandro Berro in Mercedes, Soriano. Here, objects, structural elements, and artworks accumulate in two locations: in the outside yard and an interior space.
This process draws on the experience of Dolores and the community’s experiences of shock, loss, acceptance, strength, solidarity, and empowerment. Not only were these emotions experienced by Dolores during and after the tornado, they are experiences we all share, wherever we are in the world, as we navigate the disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic. The installation explores the question: what has been lost and what has been found? The artists of I Found U found strength during the pandemic in our micro-moments together on regular video calls and we hope this intervention will expand our engagement and connectedness with the people of Soriano.
